Hunger and Other Stories
While I'm in book mode, I thought I'd take some time to talk about Hunger and Other Stories by Ian Randall Wilson. I'm a huge fan of modern short fiction, so this is just the type of book you'd see me pick up in a bookstore or from a friend's home collection.Wilson has a clean, stark style and a sweeping way of showing us who the characters are in the scheme of their own world. There is a certain masculinity to the way he crafts a sentence, and even as a female reader I have always been drawn to male writers specifically for that strength of phrasing and edgy reality. Relationships are dances, none too graceful. In all honesty, this is exactly teh type of collection I feel compelled enough to purchase so that I can read it slowly, thoughfully.
