Spending on someone else's dime
I just picked up the most amazing side gig. One of the authors I work with at the publishing house has a cousin here in NYC that has a business as a personal shopper/gift buyer. She gets hired to do all sorts of shopping for the super wealthy who are too buzy (or perhaps too lazy) to shop on their own. She also gets paid to shop for gifts for party favors, people's Christmas gifts, high-profile baby showers, etc.
Since those around me apparently think I have my finger on the pulse of all that is cool, I've been contracted to help this cousin of the author's pinpoint the hippest gifts this season.
I kid you not. I'm going to be paid to buy stuff for other people, paid to test new trends and scout new hot items.
I am in shopping heaven, my friends.
